
Jawan L. Hopwood was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently the Director of Early Learning at Sheltering Arms Early Childhood and Family Center in Atlanta, GA. He has been in the field of Education since 2002 in various capacities such as educator, mentor, consultant, counselor, program coordinator, and center director.
Mr. Hopwood is an advocate of active learning, and provides his teachers with resources to provide students developmentally appropriate and engaging learning opportunities that incorporate multiple learning styles. He is passionate about education and strives to maintain equal opportunities for all students to achieve their highest potential. Most of his work has been with at-risk and under-served student populations and he has a proven track record for maximizing student potential through extensive staff development and training, boosting staff morale, increasing parent involvement, and increasing accountability among administrators, teachers, students, and other essential stakeholders.
Mr. Hopwood received his Bachelors in Psychology from Temple University, completed his Master’s degree in Education in 2007 at Towson University, and plans to pursue his Doctorate in 2015.
